sos @ york university

Students Offering Support (SOS) is one of the organizations at York University I admire most. The SOS model has three aims:
1) To raise marks
2) To raise money
3) To raise roofs
To achieve this SOS hosts exam preparation sessions for students and uses the proceeds to support charitable trips in developing nations. The result is a cycle of positive change that benefits both York students and those in need across the globe.
Although the club was founded just two years ago, the York SOS team has already organized dozens of Exam-AID sessions and embarked on trips to Belize and El Salvador. I attended an Exam-AID session during my first year to prepare for my statistics final and can honestly say it boosted my confidence tenfold.
Kwan Ho Lee, the incoming president, is excited to carry the torch forward.
“Approaching our third year in running on campus York SOS intends to continue building a high profile organization by providing superb Exam-AID sessions to the York student body,” said Lee.
The best part about SOS is its outreach is by no means limited to York University; chapters can be found at universities all across Canada. You may become involved as a tutor, an event coordinator or even a volunteer trip participant!
